Will Of John Rotchell/Rochelle Written: 20 March 1753 Probated: 8 Nov. 1753 In The Name Of God, Amen, The Twenty Day Of March 1753 I John Rotchell of the County of Southampton in Virginia being very Sick and weak in body but of Perfect mind & Memory thanks be Give to Allmighty [sic] God therefore Calling unto mind the mortality of my body and Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament that is to say principally and first all I Give and Recommend my Soul into the Hands of God that Give it and my body I Recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the Discretion of my Executors not Douting [sic] but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God and as Tuching [sic] worldly Estate as it pleased Almighty God to bless me in this life with all I Give Dismiss of the Same in the following manner & form Imprimis: I Give and bequeath unto my Dear beloved Son in law Raman Ennis the Sum of five shillings Current Money of Virginia to be raised ought of my Estate by the hands of my Ex'or Item I Give unto my Dear Beloved Son George Rotchell five shillings Current Money of Virginia to be paid to him or his heirs by my Ex'or as before mentioned Item I Give unto my Daughter Eliza Salls five Shillings to be raised and paid to her or her order by my Ex'or Item I Give unto unto my Dearly beloved Son John Rotchell all the remainder of my Estate that I have In this County after my wife Decease to him and his heirs or assigns forever and I do hereby utterly Disallow Revoke and Disannul all and every other former Will & Testament whatsoever before Named and I Do Rectify and Confirm this and no other to be my last will and testament in writing whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my Seal John Rotchell Test Wm Bynum Saml Atkinson Anna Portean Continues on Page 136 At A Court Held of the County of Southampton On Thursday The 8 Day Of November 1753 This Writing Was proved by the Oath Of Saml Atkinson a Witness thereto and At A Court held of the said County On Thursday the 13 Day Of December 1753 The Same Was further proved by the Oath of Wm Bynum another of the Witnesses thereto and It was Ordered that the Widow of the Testator be summoned to declare Whither she will administer with this writing annexed there being no Ex'or named therein Test R Kello Clk At a Court held of the County of Southampton on Thursday the 10th Day of January 1754.
